The ‘Australian Makers’ series is a national documentary style video series that aims to showcase the unique stories of Australia’s most interesting makers and growers. From artisans handcrafting jewellery in tiny workshops to global companies making trucks and caravans in Australia’s largest factories.

I was lucky enough to lead production and to have developed the content series from the ground up over four years with a talented video partner. Today, it is a paid opportunity available exclusively to brands carrying the Australian Made logo and is booked flat chat by many of the largest manufacturing and agriculture companies.

It has continued production, often remotely right throughout all of Melbourne and Australia’s harsh lockdowns.

I was tasked with producing a documentary style case study video that showed how Australia’s automotive industry is still alive within the transport and recreational vehicle sectors. Despite the departure of many major Australian car manufacturers like Holden and Ford.

Advertise an automotive product from an industry that is widely regarded as dead, manufactured locally by a Swedish owned conglomerate, with a CEO who has a thick Scottish accent…
as ‘authentically Australian’.

the solution.

Park green and gold wrapped trucks at the country’s most iconic views, the Sea Cliff Bridge, the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Show the Aussie manufacturing journey from factory to showroom floor.

the impact.

 

The Volvo Group Australia ‘Australian Makers’ video received just under 100k YouTube views and was rolled out by Volvo Group Australia across its national dealer network to play on in-store display screens. The video was also presented at the Brisbane Truck Show to help launch the new Australian Made Volvo XXL.

’Australian Makers’ footage from the Volvo shoot was later spliced into a new Volvo Trucks branded TV commercial and featured prominently in many of Australian Made’s national TV commercials.
